Liquid Liposuction is the next gold level standard allowing our Surgeons to combined highly accurate body contouring with speedy recovery periods and minimal bruising and swelling. Liquid Liposuction is a much gentler approach to liposuction, allowing for greater patient comfort. Other advantages include : reduced pain, increased safety and higher accuracy levels, smoother results.
The procedure uses a cutting edge device known as the "Body Jet" which procedures high accuracy levels combined with dramatically shorter recovery periods.
The new Liquid Liposuction technique has a number of advantages over traditional liposuction by using the newest technology to produce more natural looking results.
- A much gentler technique for contouring the body. Liquid Liposuction uses the force of water to break down the fat cells without causing damage to the surrounding tissue.
- Quicker recovery - Over 90% of patients have little to no pain after 4 days having the liquid liposuction procedure. Generally all patients return to work within 1-3 days .Far less swelling and bruising are experienced with this technique when compared with regular liposuction.
- Mild discomfort- A mild sedation is all that's required.
- Natural smooth results - Patients are able to stand up during the liquid liposuction procedure to allow for further fine-tuning of the treatment. Less bruising and swelling are also experienced when compared with the traditional forms of liposuction. All of the above advantages mean fewer revision, indentations and asymmetry with results.
- Safer- Only a mild sedation is require for the liquid liposuction procedure which means there is no need for general anaesthetic.
- Permanent- As with traditional liposuction, the fat cells are permanently removed from the body.
- Instant results- Patients will see an immediate improvement in their results which will continue to improvement over the course of the following 4-6 week.
Liquid liposuction can assist with shaping the body by removing unwanted / excess fat from various areas around the body, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. Although liquid liposuction is not a substitute as a weight loss program it's excellent for helping remove stubborn pockets of fat that aren't respond to traditional weight-loss techniques.
How does it work?
The Liquid Liposuction procedure utilises 1/2cm incisions being made in the treatment zone and a specialised instrument known as a cannula. A water jet containing local anaesthetic is sprayed out of the cannula at a high pressure breaking up the fat cells before they are sucked out of the treatment zone. The Liquid liposuction technique removes the fat much easier than with traditional liposuction. This means less bruising, swelling and pain for the patient. Fewer nerve injuries occur along with quicker procedure times. Suitable treatment areas include the tummy, love handles, chest, back, thighs, calves, arms and neck.

Traditional liposuction uses large amounts of fluids to help with removing fat. This can distort the natural contours of the body and makes the job of the surgeon difficult. Liquid liposuction use much smaller volumes of fluid which makes the shaping process much more accurate. Liquid liposuction is a day case treatment which allows patients to return home within 4 hours of the treatment.
The Best Candidates For Liquid Lipo
Good candidates for Liquid Liposuction must have realistic expectation with their results. Liquid liposuction can enhance your appearance and confidence however, it may not create your “perfect body” image. It’s important to carefully consider your expectations and discuss them with our surgeon before proceeding.
Liquid liposuction is most effective in patients who are within a healthy weight range, have good quality skin and wish to sculpt/shape excess pockets of fat. Age is not a major issue however, some older patients may have issues with loose skin due to reduced levels of collagen and elastin.
Liquid Liposuction uses a fan-shaped jet of water to break down the fat

The water pressure moves nerves and blood vessels away from the cannula, reducing trauma to the surrounding tissue. This allows the liquid liposuction patients to have less bruising, swelling, pain and obtain quicker results.
The Liquid Liposuction procedure is performed in two stages
Using the water-jet, the treatment area is infiltrated with a saline solution containing adrenaline (to minimize bleeding) and local anaesthetic.
In this phase, the jet is used primarily to distribute the medications. The volume of fluid injected is small and produces negligible swelling or deformation of the treatment area. This makes the procedure comfortable for the patient, and avoids the volume and medication loading on the patient of other techniques.
The water-jet permits considerably faster distribution and penetration of the fluid in the target area, reducing the overall procedure time and the effort required by the surgeon. The infiltration phase typically takes 10-15 minutes to complete.
The next step is to break down and dislodge the fat so it can be removed. By using this gentle technique the surgeon has greater control over the shaping procedure. Because the treatment areas isn’t distorted with excess fluid and swelling the surgeon can contour the area with more confidence and accuracy and taking away much of the guess work normally associated with regular liposuction. Touch-up and redo rates are also greatly reduced with the liquid liposuction technique.
The sculpting / suction stage is carried out until the desired shape is reached. Liquid liposuction can be done under general anaesthetic however, at COSMOS we’ve tailored the treatment to work with local anaesthetic and light sedation.
The advantages of this method are :
- The patient can move into certain position allowing our surgeon the best access to the treatment zone.
- The patient can stand up during the procedure to check results and fine tune is required.
- Direct feedback can be given to the surgeon if a complication or unusual pain should arise
- Quicker recovery from the anaesthetic.
When performing liquid liposuction some patients with poor quality skin can be left with skin that does not retract properly. In the past having this "excess" skin removed could only be achieved through excision and ugly scaring.
Now with the introduction of laser liposuction we are able to help tighten the skin without the need for a surgical methods. Laser liposuction is quite commonly used in combination with Liquid Liposuction procedures to assist with skin tightening..
After your liquid liposuction treatment some fluid drainage can occur from the incision point, this will normally last for 12 hours only. You will also need to wear a compression garment to help reduce bruising/swelling and improve skin retraction, your surgeon will prescribe how long this needs to be worn following the liquid liposuction procedure.
A course of Velasmooth treatments will be included in your package and will be performed approx 3 weeks following the liquid liposuction procedure. This treatment helps to tighten the skin and smooth out your results and soften any hardness. Hardness or numbness can occur after the procedure and normally go away on their own a few months after treatment. Massages, including Velasmooth help with this. You will also be prescribed antibiotics to reduce the chance of contracting an infection.
Liquid Liposuction greatly reduces post-operative complications and discomfort; you may get some pain, burning, swelling, bleeding and temporary numbness. Your pain will be kept under control with medication we prescribe although general soreness and stiffness can still occur. The majority of Liquid Liposuction patients are off all forms of pain killer in 4 days.
