What causes acne scarring?

Acne scars occur as a result of abnormal collagen production during healing. Teenage acne is a major cause for many adults being left with acne scars, even after the active acne has been successfully treated. Acne scarring can be very difficult to treat, its appearance can be reduced when combining treatments that are aimed at the formation of new collagen production.

Are acne scar treatments painful?

Fractional Laser: A topical anaesthetic is applied to maintain your comfort during the procedure. Afterwards, cool compresses can be used to minimise discomfort.

Skin Needling: A topical anaesthetic is applied and you may feel a very mild prickling sensation.

PRP: This treatment is very similar to a blood test and you may experience a mild prick sensation.

Filler: These options have very minimal discomfort, but you may feel a small pricking in the area.
