Having cosmetic surgery using Vaser Liposuction in Canberra is individual, and the costs will vary patient to patient depending on various personalised factors and individual complexities.
At Cosmos Canberra, the cost of our liposuction procedures always start from a minimum base price of $5,500 for the first area, with additional areas costing a smaller fee starting from a minimum $2,000. These prices are just a guide and are not a quote.
During your initial consultations, a detailed and exact individual quote will be provided to you, taking into account your specific circumstances and treatment areas of concern. The total price for a liposuction surgery in Canberra will be calculated including the following cost factors:
Liposuction is a surgical procedure, and prior to deciding to undergo an invasive procedure using liposuction, all patients must understand they need to have realistic expectations, that individual experiences and outcomes vary, and the results one person achieves does not guarantee the same outcomes will occur in another person.
Our liposuction doctors can remove up to five litres of fat during a single procedure, depending on your aesthetic goals and total body weight.
Keep in mind that, for patient safety and comfort, we can remove a maximum of five litres of fat during a single liposuction session. This limit applies to all patients, regardless of weight, percentage of body fat and desired results. In fact, one study found removing more than five litres of fat increased complication rates by 3.7 percent.
At Cosmos Aesthetics Canberra, our liposuction doctors will attempt to achieve the best fat reduction results during your initial procedure. However, depending on how much stubborn fat needs to be removed to achieve your desired outcomes, you may need additional sessions of liposuction.
You should see some subtle improvements in your body shape immediately after your procedure, however it will take some time for your final results to appear. Before your full results become apparent, post-operative swelling will need to subside and the skin given the chance to retract and tighten. Compression garments will be fitted post-op to help with swelling and shaping. Some liposuction patients may achieve full results within three to six months, while others will continue to improve for up to a year. To speed recovery times and see results sooner, be sure to follow all of your doctor’s post-operative instructions.
The amount of time spent in surgery will depend on the area treated and the amount of fat removed. As a general rule, you can expect to spend one to four hours in the operating theatre.
Yes, many patients choose to address multiple areas of concern in one liposuction procedure. Usually, these areas are close together, such as the abdomen and thighs, or arms and back, although this doesn’t have to be the case. While there is no limit to how many areas can be treated simultaneously, we typically recommend a maximum of three or four areas in one session. Keep in mind that combining areas will increase surgery times, lengthen recovery times and raise costs.
During a liposuction procedure with Vaser technology, patients are placed under local anaesthetic and twilight sedation, meaning that they feel very little, if anything, during surgery. Sometimes, a general anaesthesia may be used and this will be discussed if relevant to your individual circumstances and needs. Your doctor can prescribe medications to alleviate any pain or discomfort post-op. Follow-up consultations will be used to monitor your progress and ensure your body is healing correctly.
Your initial consultation is where your doctor will inform you about specific pre-op instructions. Smokers need to quit at least two weeks before and after surgery. In addition, your doctor may ask you to avoid specific medications and supplements that can cause bleeding and bruising during and after surgery. It is also a great idea to take steps before surgery to prepare for your recovery. We suggest purchasing comfortable clothing for your recovery period, filling any needed prescriptions, preparing some healthy meals to eat and arranging for someone to pick you up from the hospital and help you at home for the first few days after your procedure.
While scarring is inevitable with any surgical procedure, significant scarring after lipo is rare, as the incisions required to insert the cannulas are only small and made in a discreet location that can be easily hidden. Any significant scarring you may experience will fade over time, particularly if you follow the scar management instructions given by your cosmetic doctor.
After liposuction, your skin will naturally contract to some degree as a result of the skin’s natural healing process. However, how well the skin contrast does vary from person to person. Typically, patients with good skin elasticity find themselves with firm, smooth skin after surgery, whereas patients with poor skin elasticity may experience skin looseness or wrinkling. If this happens to you, we offer various non-surgical skin tightening treatments to smooth and tighten.
Liposuction is not a weight-loss or obesity treatment. Mega Liposuction procedures are available at Cosmos Aesthetics Canberra which can help overweight and obese patients lose significant amounts of fat. Please organise a consultation with our cosmetic doctors to see if this option is right for you.
The fat cells removed during your procedure can never return. However, remaining fat cells can still expand in size, which means that it is possible to gain weight, likely in different areas of the body. A healthy diet and exercise is crucial to maintaining your lipo results long-term. Additionally, external factors such as ageing, gravity and inflammation can also affect how your results look over time.
There are a number of non-surgical fat removal treatments available to consider. At Cosmos Canberra, we currently offer CoolSculpting, which utilises Cryolipolysis to freeze and reduce fat cells in the targeted areas. Options to reduce unwanted pockets of fats using non-surgical options must always be discussed during the initial consultations with our doctors, to ensure any treatment you are considering is suitable for your individual needs.
Vaser Liposuction is a surgical procedure that comes with potential risks, side effects and complications. Some of the potential side effects you may experience after liposuction surgery can include:
