Vaser Liposuction is a surgical procedure using ultrasound technology in combination with a numbing solution of local anaesthesia as well as IV sedation, to remove excess fat deposits and unwanted fat cells from specific areas of the body with a cannula via small incision sites
The following areas may be able to be treated with liposculpture surgery in suitable candidates with realistic expectations. Suitability for each area is decided by the doctor during the consultations.

LIPOSUCTION SURGERY AT COSMOS AESTHETICS
Not all patients who want to have cosmetic surgery including having liposculpture surgery, are candidates for a procedure. The following indicators are just a guide and do not guarantee suitability, suitability is determined by the doctors during the initial consultations.
We understand the price of cosmetic surgery is something a patient will consider. However, liposuction costs do not fit into a one-price-fits-all flat rate fee. The cost to have Vaser Lipo will vary from patient to patient depending on a range of elements, including but not limited to:
At Cosmos Aesthetics, our Vaser Liposuction procedures always start from a minimum base price of $5,500 for the first area. Additional areas are charged at a smaller rate, starting from a minimum $2,000 per area. One area is the lower abdomen, the upper abdomen, both love handles, or both upper inner thighs for example.
The prices mentioned are a general guide only and are not an exact price. An exact quote tailored to your individual needs and the specific areas you’re considering treating will be discussed and provided to you during the initial consultations with the doctor.
In Australia, there are a number of prerequisites that every individual wanting cosmetic surgery including Vaser Lipo must complete. A referral from a GP, two consultations a minimum seven days apart, including one in-person consultation with the doctor performing your surgery, as well as a mandatory minimum seven day cooling off period following the second consultation, are all required before being able to book to have liposuction surgery at Cosmos Aesthetics.

WHAT DOES LIPOSUCTION SURGERY INVOLVE
At Cosmos Aesthetics, Vaser Liposuction is the body contouring liposuction technique we use for all liposuction procedures.
During a Vaser Liposuction procedure, a tumescent local anaesthetic numbing solution is used in each of the treated areas, in conjunction with IV sedation, which can be either twilight sedation or general anaesthetic. The level of IV sedation used depends on the individual needs and medical requirements of each patient and will be decided during the consultations with the doctor.
A cannula is introduced into targeted areas of the body through small incision sites, to break down stubborn fat deposits, and liquify the excess fat cells in each of the treated areas. These unwanted fat cells are then extracted from the body via suction technology using a cannula through the same incision sites.
Vaser Lipo is a surgical procedure for fat removal, and the duration of surgery can vary. It can take anywhere from one to four hours, influenced by factors such as the specific requirements of the individual, the number of body areas being treated, and the volume of fat cells being removed.
Preparation is key when considering any invasive procedure, including having Vaser Lipo. During your consultations, the doctor will discuss detailed information about the surgical process and provide comprehensive pre and post-procedure aftercare instructions. You’ll also receive copies of this information to refer back to.
If you’re a smoker, you will be required to stop smoking as soon as possible. Smoking is not allowed for a minimum of two weeks before surgery, and throughout the recovery time period. Any medications you’re currently taking will also be assessed during your initial consultations, as some medications and supplements have the potential to interfere with the procedure and the recovery process.
To help with your post-procedure aftercare, it is recommended to have old towels and bed sheets prepared, and wear loose, dark, and comfortable clothing over your compression garments and on the day of your surgery. Purchasing absorbent pads, like puppy pads from Kmart or $2 Discount Stores are extremely useful to absorb leakage from the incision sites. Additionally, it’s essential to arrange for a responsible adult to pick you up after your procedure, to stay with you overnight, and all the following day.
The downtime needed following surgery will vary depending on a range of factors, including the number of treated areas, and each individual patient’s specific needs. In general, many patients are able to resume most light daily activities after around one week post-procedure. However, this is just a guide and is not a guarantee that your healing process will be the same as someone else.
The anticipated downtime you may experience for your individual procedure, areas of the body being treated, and your personal circumstances, will all be discussed with the doctor during the consultations. Any activities that involve significant exertion, like heavy lifting or intense exercise, must be avoided for at least six weeks.
All patients must wear the compression garments supplied by Cosmos Aesthetics for a minimum of six weeks throughout the recovery process. Fluid leakage is normal and can continue from the incision sites for up to a week. Swelling is also extremely normal and will fluctuate throughout the healing process. Information regarding preparing for the recovery period and how to optimise your aftercare experience, will all be provided to you and discussed in depth.
Post-procedure you can expect to have bruising, swelling, and pain, which are able to be managed with the pain relief medications prescribed by the doctor. All patients must carefully follow the aftercare guidelines, attend all scheduled follow up appointments, as well as self-perform daily lymphatic drainage massage on all of the treated areas.
Following liposuction surgery you may notice a change in your body shape, however you will need to wait for your post-operative swelling to subside, and the skin to retract and tighten before your results start to become more visible. Wearing your compression garments, attending follow up appointments, daily massages to the areas treated, and following all aftercare instructions as directed will support the body, and optimise healing during the recovery process.
The final results from Vaser Lipo can take anywhere between 3-6 months to fully appear, and will continue to gradually improve over this time period.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT LIPOSUCTION SURGERY
All liposuction surgery including traditional liposuction and Vaser Liposuction, are invasive procedures, and all invasive procedures have risks, complications, and side effects, which must always be considered before deciding to have surgery. Some of the potential side effects associated with Vaser Lipo can include, but are not limited to:
In Australia, there is a limit to how much fat can be safely removed during liposuction surgery. Cosmos Aesthetics follows these guidelines, and the total amount of fat that can be removed per procedure is a maximum of five litres. If the doctor anticipates that more than five litres of fat could be removed from your treatment areas, you may need to undergo multiple liposuction sessions. If applicable to you, this will be discussed during your consultations.
Fat removed using Vaser Lipo can be transferred to another area of the body for patients suitable for fat transfer treatments. At Cosmos Aesthetics, our doctors perform Brazilian Butt Lift surgery to enhance the shape and increase the size of the buttocks using a patient’s own fat.
We also offer Fat Transfer to Breast surgery for patients wanting a subtle cup size increase. This treatment can offer a more natural alternative to a traditional breast augmentation procedure using breast implants.
Following Vaser Liposuction surgery, the skin may undergo a natural contraction as part of its healing process. The extent of skin tightening differs between individuals and is influenced by elements such as each patient’s pre-existing skin elasticity. Vaser Lipo can enhance skin tightening and collagen retraction, however this is not guaranteed. Individuals with higher elasticity might observe firmer skin post-procedure, while those with less elasticity might notice some excess skin or wrinkling in areas, such as the lower and upper abdomen.
Scarring is a natural outcome of surgery. The small incisions needed for Vaser Lipo, usually fade over time. However, the end result and visibility of the scars left behind will always vary between individuals, pending skin type, scarring history, and if specialised silicone scar creams are used during the recovery process.
Vaser Lipo is not designed to treat obesity and it is not weight loss surgery. However, our Mega Liposuction procedure can help overweight patients remove a considerable amount of fat.
At Cosmos Aesthetics, we offer CoolSculpting treatments, a non-surgical option for suitable patients to reduce the amount of fat in specific areas of the body without surgery.
