What is a male BBL?

In a male BBL procedure, fat is taken from areas such as the abdomen, thighs, or back using liposuction. The fat is then purified and re-injected into the buttocks to change it’s shape and size.

The procedure’s duration varies depending on how much fat is extracted and transferred, and both fat removal and transfer are done on the same day.

Candidates for this procedure are typically individuals looking to change the shape of their buttocks and who have sufficient fat in areas like the abdomen, thighs, or back. It’s important for candidates to have realistic expectations about the results.

The procedure is performed under general anaesthetic or conscious sedation for comfort. Pain relief is provided after surgery to help manage discomfort during recovery.

On average, around 800–1,000 mL of fat is injected into each buttock, with some cases requiring up to 1 litre per side.

POST SURGERY

Recovery period for male BBL

Recovery typically takes around 5–7 days. During the procedure, slightly more fat is injected than required, as some of the transferred fat may not integrate with your body. Initially, the treated area may appear larger or swollen, but this will settle over time, and the final results will be visible after healing.

Most patients retain over 80% of the injected fat cells. You will need to wear a compression garment full-time for 3 weeks, followed by part-time use for another 3 weeks. To avoid pressure on the treated area, you should refrain from sitting directly on your buttocks for the first 2 weeks, instead sitting forward on your thighs if needed.

Antibiotics will be prescribed for 10 days after the procedure, and daily post-operative massages at the clinic are recommended during the first week to assist with recovery. Swelling and bruising at the treated area are common and should subside over time. For detailed guidance, consult your doctor during follow-up visits.

Can I use someone else’s fat for a male BBL?

No, this can increase the risk of infection and rejection of the fat by your body.

I don’t have much fat elsewhere on my body. Can I still get the procedure done?

There are options available for patients who do not carry a lot of excess fat. The first is to gain weight, using a healthy approach, until there is enough fat that can be removed. The second is to be referred to a doctor for buttock implants.

Where exactly is the fat injected?

We inject fat under the skin in the subcutaneous fat region.

What areas of the body can fat be extracted from?

Essentially, fat can be extracted from anywhere on the body that it appears. Typical places that extraction occurs include the abdomen, the thighs and the back. The upper arms, hips and chest are also options.
