What happens during a lower face liposuction procedure?

Vaser Liposuction technology uses ultrasound energy to melt stubborn fat cells and target unwanted fat deposits in the jowls and lower face area of suitable candidates.

Depending on the personalised needs of each individual, most patients undergo a Vaser Liposuction procedure using IV sedation, either twilight anaesthesia or general anaesthesia, in combination with a local anaesthetic numbing solution in each treatment area.

Small incisions are made behind the ears and under the chin, before each area is numbed with local anaesthesia infiltrated into the tissue. A specialised Vaser Liposuction probe is introduced via these tiny incisions, to break down and liquify the stubborn fat cells, before they are suctioned out of the body through a cannula. Vaser Lipo technology uses ultrasound energy, which may have an effect on collagen fibers in the fatty tissue.

What other areas of the body can be treated with Vaser Liposuction?

Who is a good candidate for face lipo?

Suitability for a procedure is determined by the doctor during the initial consultations, and not all patients considering lower face liposuction surgery are suitable candidates. Having the Procedure

Do I need to prepare for a face liposuction procedure?

During your initial consultations, our doctors at Cosmos Clinic Sydney will provide you with detailed pre and post-operative information tailored to suit your individual needs. Patients who smoke, must cease smoking in the lead up to the procedure and throughout the recovery period. You will also need to organise for a responsible adult to collect your after surgery to stay with you overnight and all the next day.

Is there any downtime after having face liposuction in Sydney NSW?

After facial liposuction, you’ll be able to go home on the same day you have the procedure. Throughout the recovery period all patients are required to wear a compression garment for at least 72 hours full-time, and then part-time for a minimum three weeks. The longer you are able to wear your garments after surgery the better. Sleeping with your head elevated on multiple pillows for at least two weeks post-procedure is also recommended, as it can help to minimise additional swelling from sleeping flat.

How long is the recovery period after Vaser Lipo?

It is recommended to refrain from intense physical activity and strenuous exercise for approximately six weeks post-procedure. Bruising and swelling will fluctuate over the following weeks and subside with time. Whilst Recovery times vary among individuals; some patients may resume normal activities around 5 days after surgery, this can vary based on multiple individual factors. It’s important to note this recovery example is only a guide and is not a guarantee. When will I see the results from my procedure?

Are the results from liposuction surgery permanent?

However, it’s essential that all potential patients understand that there will always be fat cells remaining in each area of the body treated. These remaining fat cells can increase and decrease in size with weight gain and weight loss. Additionally, over time, everyone will see facial fat pad changes and experience skin sagging in their lower face areas, including the cheeks, jowls, chin, and neck. Having Vaser Lipo does not stop the natural ageing process from continuing to occur.

Will a liposuction procedure give me a defined jawline?
