    THE TREATMENT

Mole & Skin Tag Removal with Erbium

Cosmetic mole removal is a treatment designed to remove benign moles using a specialised laser known as an “Erbium” laser. This method focuses on precise removal while aiming to minimise scarring.

    How the Procedure Works

    1. Consultation and Assessment: Your clinician will examine the mole to determine if you’re a suitable candidate for laser removal.
    2. Preparation: Local anaesthetic is administered to the treatment area to ensure comfort.
    3. Laser Treatment: The Erbium laser is used to target and flatten the mole. The treatment is precise and works by gradually removing the mole tissue.
    4. Post-Treatment: Minor pinpoint bleeding may occur, which is controlled using adrenalin. After the procedure, proper aftercare is essential to promote healing and minimise scarring.

    Why Choose Laser Mole Removal?

Unlike DIY remedies such as tea tree oil, apple cider vinegar, baking soda, or other home-based methods (which we do not recommend), laser removal is a safer and more effective option. It offers precision and reduces the risk of complications like infection or incomplete removal.

    Cost of Mole Removal

The cost of mole removal varies depending on the size, number, and location of the moles treated. A personalised quote will be provided after your consultation to ensure transparency in pricing. However, pricing at Cosmos Clinic starts from $250.00 per mole.

    Recovery After Mole Removal

The recovery process following cosmetic mole removal is typically straightforward, but it’s important to follow your clinician’s aftercare instructions for optimal healing. Here’s what to expect:

    Immediately After the Procedure

    • Post-Treatment Area: The treated area may appear red or slightly swollen, with pinpoint bleeding that will subside quickly.
    • Dressing: A protective dressing may be applied to the area to minimise the risk of infection and to protect the site from external factors.
    • Discomfort: Mild discomfort or sensitivity around the treated site is normal and can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relief if necessary.

    First Few Days

    • Wound Care: Keep the treated area clean and dry. Avoid touching or scratching the area to prevent irritation.
    • Avoid Direct Sun Exposure: Protect the area from sunlight by using sunscreen or covering it to reduce the risk of pigmentation changes.
    • No Harsh Products: Avoid applying makeup, creams, or harsh skincare products to the area until healing progresses.

    One to Two Weeks

    • Scab Formation: A scab will typically form over the treated area as it heals. Avoid picking at the scab to prevent scarring or infection.
    • Healing Progress: Most people find that the site begins to heal significantly within 7–10 days, with residual redness fading over time.

    Longer-Term Care

    • Scar Management: Your clinician may recommend scar-reducing creams or silicone gel to support the healing process and minimise scarring.
    • Follow-Up: Attend any scheduled follow-up appointments to ensure the site is healing as expected and to address any concerns.

    When to Contact Your Clinician

Reach out to your clinician if you experience:

    • Prolonged redness or swelling
    • Signs of infection, such as pus or excessive warmth
    • Persistent pain or bleeding

With proper aftercare, most patients find the recovery period to be relatively short, with minimal disruption to their daily activities.

Are there any risks of complications?

While mole removal using the Erbium Laser is generally considered safe, as with any medical procedure, there are potential risks and complications to be aware of. These may include:

    • Scarring: Minimal scarring may occur, influenced by mole size and healing.
    • Infection: Redness, swelling, or discharge may indicate infection.
    • Pigmentation Changes: Skin may lighten or darken at the treatment site.
    • Bleeding: Minor bleeding is expected but persistent bleeding is rare.
    • Allergic Reactions: Possible reaction to the local anaesthetic.
    • Incomplete Removal: Additional sessions may be required.
    • Keloid Scarring: Raised scars may develop in some individuals.
    • Mole Recurrence: The mole may regrow if not completely removed.

When can I expect the final results?

After the scab falls off (if the removed mole was on the face), there should be no evidence of treatment. If the mole is on the body, you will be left with a flat area that is whiter than the rest of your skin. It is rare that a second treatment will be required, although this can vary from patient to patient.
