    THE TREATMENT

Three treatments for under the eyes

    Hollows Under the Eyes

The appearance of hollows under the eyes can be managed with dermal fillers, which are injected to provide support to the affected area. This is typically performed using a blunt needle to minimise the risk of bruising. Some swelling or bruising may still occur and can last between two to seven days. Most patients notice visible improvements within a week after the procedure. Results generally last between 12 to 15 months, depending on individual factors.

    Dark Circles Under the Eyes

While dermal fillers cannot completely remove dark circles, they can help minimise their visibility. By thickening the skin and hydration in the under-eye area, fillers can reduce the appearance of shadows and dark circles. Complementary skincare products, such as those containing caffeine, can also assist in reducing puffiness.

    Texture and Fine Lines

Dermal fillers can help reduce the visibility of fine lines and change the texture of the skin beneath the eyes. This treatment can be combined with other methods, such as skincare regimens or additional procedures, to further address texture-related concerns around the lower eyelid.

Under-Eye Dermal Fillers at Cosmos Clinic

Under-eye dermal fillers are a non-surgical option for managing concerns in the delicate under-eye area. At Cosmos Clinic, all treatments are performed by qualified medical professionals with advanced training and extensive experience in under-eye procedures. Our team includes a nationally recognised Allergan Trainer, a title held by fewer than 20 doctors in Australia.

    Choosing the Right Cosmetic Injector

When considering under-eye fillers, it is crucial to select a qualified and experienced injector. Look for:

    • A Reputable Clinic: Ensure the clinic has a strong track record.
    • Experienced Injectors: Choose practitioners with years of experience in cosmetic injectables.
    • Evidence of Results: Review before and after photos of actual patients.

What to Expect During an Under-Eye Treatment

Under-eye fillers are a prescription treatment and can only be administered by a qualified medical practitioner. Here’s an overview of the process:

    1. Consultation: All patients must attend a consultation to assess suitability for treatment. During this appointment, our experienced team will evaluate your needs and discuss treatment goals.
    2. Preparation: Before the procedure, numbing cream and an ice pack are applied to ensure comfort.
    3. Injection: Using either a needle or cannula, the filler is strategically placed under the eyes. The fillers we use contain a local anaesthetic to minimise discomfort, though you may feel slight pressure during the injections.
    4. Post-Treatment: After the procedure, pressure is applied to the area, and results are visible immediately.

    What to Expect After Treatment

Under-eye fillers are a straightforward procedure, allowing most patients to resume normal activities immediately. It’s common to experience mild swelling for 1–2 days, with some cases lasting up to a week.

    Post-Treatment Care:

    • Apply a cold compress for 10 minutes every hour as needed (wrap it in a towel to protect the skin).
    • Avoid strenuous exercise or excessive heat for at least 24 hours.
    • Stay hydrated and refrain from smoking or consuming alcohol for 24 hours.
    • If needed, take paracetamol for pain relief instead of aspirin or ibuprofen.

Your injector will provide detailed aftercare instructions tailored to your needs.

How Much Do Under-Eye Fillers Cost?

The cost of under-eye fillers depends on factors like the type and quantity of filler used. At Cosmos Clinic, we customise treatment plans to suit individual concerns and goals. Prices start from $350. For a personalised quote, book a consultation with one of our experienced injectors.

What brands of filler do you use?

Advertising guidelines in Australia prohibit us from discussing which brands are used in our clinic. As such, you must have a consultation at our clinic to examine whether fillers under the eye are suitable for you. At Cosmos Clinic, we use high-quality fillers from a range of well-trusted brands. If you are interested in learning more, we can talk freely about your options during a consultation.

How long do the fillers last?

Keep in mind that under-eye fillers are not permanent, as the body will eventually metabolise the product. When this happens will depend on numerous factors, such as the type of filler used and your skin type, lifestyle, and age. However, since the under eyes aren’t very mobile, you can expect the filler to last longer than in other areas, such as the lips. As a general rule, you can expect your under-eye treatment to last between 12 and 18 months.

What if I don’t like my results?

If you are unhappy with your filler results, you have a few options. If you feel that your under-eyes still look too hollow, your cosmetic injector can administer additional filler. On the other hand, if you do not like the way your results look at all, we can inject an enzyme beneath the eyes that completely dissolves the filler.

Do under-eye fillers have any side effects?

Most patients tolerate under-eye filler very well, even after years of use. However, as with any other medical procedure, there are some temporary side effects to be aware of. These include redness, bruising and swelling, all of which usually resolve within a few hours or days.

In some cases, patients may develop some rare complications, such as lumps or infection. Thankfully, tear trough filler can be instantly dissolved using a special enzyme in cases where the treatment needs to be reversed to address complications.

Very rarely, your injector may inject the product into a blood vessel instead of beneath the skin. This can block blood flow and lead to skin death and, in severe cases, blindness. For this reason, we strongly advise that you see a highly experienced cosmetic injector who has the knowledge to prevent this complication.
