WHAT DOES A TEAR TROUGH FILLER TREATMENT INVOLVE

    Having the Procedure

Who is a good candidate for under eye fillers?

If you have concerns with hollow areas, dark circles, a visible lack of volume, or fine lines beneath the eyes, then you are most likely a suitable candidate for under eye fillers. However, as with any non-surgical treatment using filler, there are some exceptions to this. Patients with very thin skin, deep tear troughs, excess loose skin, or fat bulging under the eyes, may not be suitable for a Volume Enhancement Treatment treatment. A good candidate for under eye fillers may include individuals experiencing the following:

    • Hollows or Shadows Under the Eyes: Fillers can help to plump up the tear trough area, reducing the appearance of tiredness, age, and hollowness.
    • Volume Loss: Due to genetics, lifestyle choices, or simply as we begin to age, the fat pads under our eyes can diminish, leading to a sunken appearance. Fillers can restore this lost volume.
    • Realistic Result Expectations: It’s important to understand that while fillers can rejuvenate the under eyes for suitable candidates, an injectable treatment won’t produce the same results as a surgical procedure like blepharoplasty.
    • Doesn’t Have Severe Eye Bags: Fillers are not the best solution for pronounced eye bags. In some cases, surgery may be a more appropriate treatment choice.
    • Over 18 Years Old: You must be at least 18 years old to have an under eye filler treatment at Cosmos Aesthetics.

How much do under eye Volume Enhancement Treatments cost in Sydney?

The cost of your Volume Enhancement Treatment treatment will depend on various factors, including the amount of filler required, the thickness of the filler needed, and the type of filler used. At Cosmos Aesthetics Sydney, we recognise that every patient is different and will require a personalised treatment plan to address their concerns and reach their aesthetic goals using non-surgical treatments including fillers.

    • Prices start from $350 depending on individual needs.
    • Pricing reduces with each additional syringe.
    • Initial consultations can cost between $100-$150, redeemable upon treatment.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT TEAR TROUGH FILLER

    Understanding the Procedure

What can I expect during an under eye Volume Enhancement Treatment treatment?

When having a cosmetic injectable appointment at Cosmos Aesthetics Sydney NSW, your specialised injector will examine the under eye skin area to ensure you are a candidate for tear trough fillers. During the treatment the following steps generally occur:

    • Consultation: The appointment typically begins with a consultation. The injector will discuss your concerns, assess the area, and determine if you’re a suitable candidate for the treatment.
    • Facial Analysis: The injector will analyse your face, focusing on the under eye area, to decide on the appropriate amount and type of filler to use.
    • Comfort: To minimise discomfort, a topical numbing cream with local anaesthetic may be applied to the treatment area. Additionally, the fillers used at all our cosmetic clinics contain local anaesthetic within the hyaluronic acid gel.
    • Injection: Using a fine needle or cannula, your injector will carefully inject the Volume Enhancement Treatment into the targeted areas. The technique and depth of injection will vary based on the patient’s anatomy and desired outcome.
    • Aftercare Instructions: Once the procedure is complete, your injector will provide specific aftercare instructions to ensure optimal results and a smooth recovery. Including directions around avoiding strenuous activities, direct sun exposure, excessive heat, and refraining from touching the treated area for a certain period of time.
    • Follow Up: A follow up appointment a few weeks after the treatment to assess the results and determine if any touch ups are needed will be scheduled.

Is there any downtime after getting under eye fillers?

After receiving under eye fillers, most patients experience minimal downtime, with bruising and swelling being common. Potential post-treatment experiences to be aware of can include:

    • Swelling and Bruising: It’s common to have some swelling or bruising in the treated area. These effects typically subside within a few days but can last up to a week in some cases.
    • Mild Discomfort: Some patients might feel a bit of tenderness or discomfort in the treated area, which usually diminishes within a day or two.
    • Immediate Results: The desired results from having filler are often visible after the treatment, however the final outcome will settle once any residual swelling and bruising has subsided.
    • Daily Activities: Most patients can resume their daily activities right after the treatment, but this will always depend on the individual.

Do tear trough fillers have any side effects?

Most Volume Enhancement Treatment patients tolerate the treatment well, even after years of repeated injections. However, just like any other medical procedure, there are some temporary side effects to be aware of, such as swelling and redness, which usually subside within a few hours to days. Bruising is common in the delicate area under the eye, and if bruising occurs this can last a week or so, depending on the patient,

Lumps of filler and skin infections are very rare, and in some even more rare cases, filler may disrupt a blood vessel beneath the skin. This can block blood flow and lead to complications such as skin death and, in severe cases, blindness. When treating the delicate area under the eyes and to reduce the risk of serious complications occurring, we always recommend that you only use an experienced cosmetic injector at Cosmos Aesthetics Sydney.

What can I do if I feel like I need more under eye fillers?

Once any downtime has settled following the first appointment, the tear troughs can be reassessed around two weeks after the initial treatment. If there is still some hollowness or visible tiredness present, additional filler can be added to top up the area during your follow up appointment.

What can I do if I don’t like the results from tear trough fillers?

If you don’t enjoy the changes produced from having filler in your under eye area, an enzyme called hyaluronidase can be injected to dissolve the filler, returning the area to its pre-treatment state. During your follow up appointment, you can discuss your options with your injector to determine the best course of action.

The duration of results from tear trough fillers can vary, with some patients experiencing effects lasting between 10 to 18 months. Individual results may differ, depending on the individual. Periodic touch up treatments can also help maintain and prolong the desired results in the under eye area.

Can I combine tear trough fillers with other filler treatments?

You can absolutely combine tear trough fillers with other injectable treatments for overall facial rejuvenation. Additional cosmetic treatment options to add to your appointment and which can all be used in harmony with under eye filler, including Wrinkle Reduction Treatments, jawline filler, and cheek filler.
