To determine if you’re a candidate for liposuction male breast reduction surgery, please contact our Gold Coast clinic to book your initial consultations.
We know that cost is a significant factor in the decision to undergo a male breast reduction with Vaser Liposuction. The price of cosmetic surgery varies, and an exact price will be discussed and given to you during the initial consultations. A quote for your individual needs will always be provided to you during your initial consultations. The total cost of surgery can also include the following fees:
At Cosmos Aesthetics Gold Coast located in Southport QLD, all our liposuction procedures including gynecomastia surgery are performed using Vaser Liposuction.
Vaser Liposuction utilises heat generating ultrasound energy waves to break apart and liquefy fat cells. The fatty tissue is then suctioned out of the body through a cannula, using a combination of a local anaesthetic tumescent numbing solution made with saline and IV sedation. General anaesthesia is also available for suitable patients that require deeper IV sedation. Individual results using Vaser liposuction will vary so it’s important to speak to our doctors to set realistic expectations.
During your gynaecomastia consultations, the doctor will give you detailed pre and post-operative information to prepare for your surgical procedure, as well as tailored instructions specific to your personalise needs and individual circumstances. A comprehensive list of instructions is provided, including fasting instructions, what to expect during recovery, and the clothes to wear on the day of surgery. You will be discharged wearing your compression garments and a responsible adult must collect you for from the hospital and stay with you overnight and all the following day.
The time spent in theatre for gynaecomastia surgery is largely dependent on the amount of fat and glandular tissue your doctor needs to remove, combined with the specific individual requirements which vary patient to patient. In most cases, a male breast reduction procedure can take between one to three hours, depending on the unique needs of the patient.
A male breast reduction at Cosmos Aesthetics is performed using Vaser Liposuction under IV sedation with local anaesthetic numbing solution. However, general anaesthetic may also be used, depending on needs of the individual. If this applies to you, any additional anaesthetist fees will be discussed at your initial consultations.
After surgery, a compression garment will be fitted to reduce swelling, support skin retraction, and aid with healing. During the recovery period from cosmetic surgery, you may be prescribed medications by your doctor that can help to alleviate any pain or discomfort caused by the procedure.
Most patients will notice results immediately after gynaecomastia surgery. However, there will be post-operative swelling which fluctuates over the weeks post-surgery. To reduce swelling and support optimal healing, the compression garment must be worn as directed throughout the recovery period. Your results will improve gradually and become more noticeable over the next three to six months, as residual swelling continues to subside following your surgery procedure.
Scarring is an inevitable part of any invasive procedure, but it is rare to experience significant post-surgery scarring from the small incision sites. To minimise the risk of obvious scarring from male breast reduction surgery, scar management instructions will be given to you by your doctor. Depending on the individual, most scars fade over time.
To support the outcomes of your gynecomastia treatment, it’s recommended to be at a stable and healthy weight relative to your height and age before undergoing the procedure. Weight loss after cosmetic surgery may result in excess skin, and weight gain may cause your chest to enlarge again.
Healthy lifestyle choices, such as regular exercise and diet, can help to maintain your results however other factors may influence the appearance of your chest long-term. We also advise against taking recreational drugs and performance enhancing drugs such as anabolic steroids after your male breast reduction, these can cause an enlargement of the glandular tissue in your chest area to return. Further liposuction and cosmetic procedures may be needed to correct reoccurrence, or you may require corrective plastic surgery under general anaesthesia with a plastic surgeon.
Every invasive procedure has risks and potential complications which must be considered. Potential side effects experienced after male breast reduction surgery can include the following:
Excess breast tissue can develop in male teens due to natural hormonal fluctuations that occur during adolescence. As male breasts often resolve without intervention following puberty, we often recommend patients wait until they are 18 or older before undergoing gynaecomastia surgery. However, every case is different and will depend on individual circumstances. During the initial consultations, a Cosmos Aesthetics doctor will discuss your result goals and help set realistic expectations.
A doctor will examine your breast area in person, but as a general rule, breast tissue has a firmer, denser consistency than fat, with a combination of both breast tissue and fatty tissue being the most common.
